Beyal Camp Trek
EasyA gentle climb above Fairy Meadows to a stunning meadow camp.
03Trekking
Four day-treks from Fairy Meadows ranging from a 90-minute sunset walk to a full Nanga Parbat Base Camp expedition. Difficulty, distance, altitude, and 2026 USD pricing on every route. Guides arranged by Broad View Hotel.
The Fairy Meadows trek itself is a 3 km walk from Tattu village taking 90 minutes uphill. Onward day-treks add 4–10 hours: Beyal Camp is 4–5 hours return, Nanga Parbat Base Camp is 8–10 hours, and Reflection Point is a 2-hour sunset walk. Most guests stay 2–3 nights to fit several routes.
Nanga Parbat Base Camp is rated Moderate. The 14 km round-trip from Fairy Meadows climbs 660 m to 3,967 m, taking 8–10 hours at trekking pace. Trail conditions are good but altitude and distance demand a reasonable fitness base. No technical climbing skills are required; trekking poles are recommended for the moraine descent.
A guided day-trek to Beyal Camp costs USD 35 per person including a packed lunch. Nanga Parbat Base Camp is USD 65 per person. Multi-day expeditions to Trishul or beyond are quoted on request. Group rates for 4+ trekkers reduce the per-person price by approximately 15%, and shoulder-season (May, October) rates carry a 10% discount.

A complete two-night Fairy Meadows trek from Islamabad costs roughly USD 300 to USD 480 per person in 2026. Karakoram Highway transport averages USD 35 each way for shared van seating, the 4×4 jeep from Raikot Bridge to Tattu is USD 12–15 per passenger when filled to six, the 3 km walk-in is free or USD 6 by mule. Cabin nights at Broad View Hotel run USD 60 per person twin-share including breakfast and dinner. A guided Beyal Camp day adds USD 35; Nanga Parbat Base Camp adds USD 65. International guests pay an extra USD 8 per day for English-speaking guides on request.
The Fairy Meadows trekking season runs May to October because the 16 km Tattu jeep track climbs from the Indus valley at 1,300 m to the meadow at 3,306 m through three avalanche corridors that hold winter snow until late April. The Diamer District road department clears the track in stages once the surface is stable. October closure follows the first heavy snowfall, typically arriving between 20 October and 5 November. June to early September is most reliable for cabin-warmth, daylight, and alpine visibility — temperatures drop fast outside that window and the Nanga Parbat face often disappears into cloud by midday.
Acclimatisation begins on day one at Fairy Meadows. Drink three litres of water on arrival, avoid alcohol for the first 24 hours, and take a slow afternoon walk to Reflection Point rather than starting a full day-trek immediately. Most healthy guests aged 8 to 65 manage 3,306 m without symptoms; an ascent to Nanga Parbat Base Camp at 3,967 m is best attempted on day two or three, never day one. Guests with cardiac, pulmonary, or anaemic conditions should consult a doctor before booking and consider acetazolamide prophylaxis.
The Karakoram Highway from Islamabad to Raikot Bridge runs 466 km and takes 8 to 10 hours by private vehicle in 2026. Resurfacing through Kohistan is now complete; the Chilas to Raikot stretch remains single-lane in places with monsoon-season landslides between July and mid-August. Most guests overnight in Chilas (Shangri-La Midway House) and complete the final 90 km early on day two. NATCO and Daewoo run scheduled coaches as far as Chilas, after which a private 4×4 transfer to Raikot Bridge costs USD 25–30 per person.
Reserve 4–6 weeks before arrival. Mid-June to mid-September is most reliable for Nanga Parbat visibility.
